HOW PERFORMING ARTS BENEFIT MENTAL HEALTH

In today’s high-pressure society, our kids are overworked, overstressed, and held to overwhelming standards. Social media and 24-hour news have added pressures that prior generations did not have to manage. While kids are resilient, many are searching for help, for an outlet where they can express themselves. In many communities, that outlet is the performing arts. The performing arts have been scientifically proven to help kids overcome anxiety, and depression, and offer emotional release.

The performing arts have often been seen as a way to escape the stresses of everyday life. For many people, theater, music, or dance can provide a much-needed outlet for creativity and expression. However, the performing arts can also have a profound effect on mental health. Numerous studies have shown that participating in the performing arts can help to reduce anxiety and depression, improve self-esteem, and increase feelings of empathy and compassion. In addition, the performing arts can provide a valuable sense of community for those who may feel isolated or alone. For all of these reasons, the performing arts can be an important part of mental health treatment.

ARTS AND MENTAL HEALTH

  • BUILDS CONFIDENCE
  • ENCOURAGES REAL-LIFE INTERACTIONS
  • CREATIVITY INCREASES HAPPINESS
  • THE ARTS HELP US ALL

The beauty created in the arts through music, performance, and language is beneficial to the   audience. When we enjoy something, we get out of our heads and into the art, which creates profound emotional healing.

Unfortunately, not every community has a special, safe space that allows creativity to flow and provides an arena for the performing arts to flourish.

In a time when gun violence is a growing epidemic in our schools, suicide rates continue to rise, and cyberbullying is at an all-time high.  Please help us as we strive to have a positive impact on their lives, rather on stage or off stage. Thank you in advance for your support.

The Performing Arts create such a significant mental, emotional, and even physical response in our bodies, that the most effective way to recreate that feeling is to get our heartbeats pumping and our muscles working.
